THE GLEN WORKSHOP | ST. JOHN’S COLLEGE | SANTA FE, NM
What an amazing week! I am still processing the extraordinary time with a stellar group of artists. Mary McCleary’s collage workshop took it to whole ‘nuther level.
A couple of my collage pieces.
One of the artists shared some anonymous photos saved from a flea market. I played with my zoom lens to explore these small ghost worlds and discovered this peeking out…

KEYS TO THE KINGDOM – I’ve been wearing various charms over the last few months and this tiny key (a gift from my son) has been around my neck this week…most of the time. It has vanished three times over the last two days, reappearing each time with a wink of silver reflection. When it happened this morning, I swore that if I found it, I would change the ring (to bind it it to me more securely) then noticed the calendar and laughed. It turned up under my lunchtime plate of leftover spaghetti. I replaced the ring, meditated on Matthew 16:19 and decide to float it up here. Here’s to the lessons of foolery.

The San Francisco Airport has the most intriguing exhibit of 19th and early 20th century slot machines and other forms of gaming. An extra hour of lay-over afforded me the chance to explore these strange and wonderful objects. I felt like the lucky winner!
I especially love the shape of this one. It looks to me like a woman sitting crisscross.

Praying for all those in Haiti. Heard a powerful interview today with Haitian writer, Edwidge Dandicat reminding us to hold the dignity and worth of all people in our hearts and minds. Listen to the interview on the Latino USA website. Here’s the address: http://latinousa.kut.org/877

I made this wee nest for my dear friend Janet, a kindred appreciator of the things with feathers. What a delight to channel my inner bird and what a surprise to find the sublime in these closeup shots taken before packing it for delivery to her. I loved exploring the form and studying the beauty of these materials…especially the vines!
